 FAQs

  • Yes, you have the flexibility to choose between remote and in-person consultations based on your preference. We understand the importance of accessible healthcare, especially in managing addiction treatments. That's why we offer both options to accommodate different needs and circumstances. Additionally, in response to the coronavirus emergency, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has granted certified addiction specialists the authorization to use telemedicine technology. This means that buprenorphine (Suboxone), a key medication in opioid use disorder treatment, can now be prescribed remotely. This applies to both existing and new patients, without the need for an initial in-person visit. This measure ensures continuous and safe access to essential medication, even in challenging times.

  • At present, our telehealth services are exclusively available to patients residing in Ohio. We are committed to providing convenient and accessible care, and understand the importance of telehealth, especially in the current healthcare landscape. While our current focus is on Ohio, we are actively working on expanding our telehealth services to include more states. This expansion is a part of our ongoing effort to increase access to essential healthcare services. Stay tuned for updates as we broaden our reach to assist more patients in various regions.

  • The cost for a prescription of Suboxone is $200, which aligns with our commitment to making substance use addiction treatment accessible to everyone, whether through in-person or telehealth services. This fee is comprehensive and includes the flexibility of not requiring an initial in-person consultation for new patients in Ohio. All appointments can be conveniently completed either in person, or via video or telephone, depending on your preference.

It's important to note that while the $200 covers the cost of the prescription process, the actual cost of the medication itself is separate and varies depending on the pharmacy you choose. However, we offer access to one of our partner pharmacies where we've negotiated the lowest medication costs in the region, ensuring affordability.

We currently do not accept insurance, but most insurance providers typically cover the cost of Suboxone/Buprenorphine. We advise you to consult with your insurance provider and your preferred pharmacy to understand more about your plan’s coverage for this medication.

  • at our partnered pharmacies, the cost is significantly lower then what can be found at most other pharmacies: only $39 for a 30-tablet supply of Suboxone and $95 for a 30-film supply. Breaking this down further:

Price Per Tablet: $1.30 per tablet.

Price Per Film: $3.17 per film.

This means the typical prescription cost for a month of suboxone when taking 2 tablets daily, the cost would be approximately $72.80.

And if taking 2 films daily, the cost would be approximately $177.52.

This represents a substantial savings compared to the national averages, even with traditionally used coupons, making treatment more accessible and affordable for our patients.

  • The process to get Suboxone prescribed is thorough yet efficient, ensuring both safety and convenience. Here's what it involves:

    1. Initial Consultation: During your first consultation, our doctor will discuss various aspects with you, including your medical history, substance use patterns, motivation to quit, and social support systems. This comprehensive discussion helps us understand your unique situation better.

    2. Prescription Decision: If Suboxone (buprenorphine) is considered safe and appropriate for you by your provider, you will likely receive your first prescription on the same day of your consultation. The initial prescription is typically for a one-week supply to monitor how you respond to the medication.

    3. Ongoing Treatment: If you continue the medication without interruption and it proves effective, you can then be prescribed a 30-day supply.

    4. Simple Sign-up and Intake: The sign-up and intake process for scheduling an appointment is quick, taking only a few minutes. You can choose a time that best suits your schedule.

    5. Prescription Delivery: The prescription for buprenorphine will be electronically sent to your chosen pharmacy at the end of your appointment.

    6. Pharmacy Processing Time: Please be aware that some pharmacies might need to order the medication, which can take about one to two days.

    7. Planning Refills: To avoid any gap in treatment, especially if your pharmacy needs to order your medication, we recommend scheduling your refill appointment at least 2-3 days before your current prescription ends. This helps prevent any withdrawal symptoms due to delays.

    8. Important Note: It's important to remember that a prescription for Suboxone is not guaranteed. It will only be provided when Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) is deemed safe and likely effective for you by our providers. This ensures that your health and safety are always our top priority.

  • The safety of online or remote appointments for Suboxone prescriptions in the treatment of opioid use disorders (OUD) is a vital consideration, especially in the context of the current opioid epidemic in the United States. This crisis affects millions of Americans and results in tens of thousands of deaths each year. A significant challenge is that the majority of people with OUD lack access to necessary treatment services.

Medication with buprenorphine (found in Suboxone) is a crucial element in addressing this crisis. Recognizing the importance of treatment, the federal government and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) have made it a priority to expand access to these essential treatment services. To this end, the DEA has authorized certified addiction specialists to utilize telemedicine technology for prescribing buprenorphine to both existing and new patients. This step is taken without mandating an initial in-person visit, reflecting a significant shift towards making these services more accessible.
